Detailed explanation-1: -This information was given by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, in a written reply in Lok Sabha today. The WCD Ministry is implementing a centrally sponsored scheme through State/UT Governments namely Mission Vatsalya under which, a monthly grant of Rs.
Detailed explanation-2: -Mission Vatsalya is a roadmap to achieve development and child protection priorities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It lays emphasis on child rights, advocacy and awareness along with strengthening of the juvenile justice care and protection system with the motto to ‘leave no child behind’.
Detailed explanation-3: -The ICPS was implemented by the Ministry since 2009-2010. The scheme was then renamed as “Child Protection Services” Scheme in 2017. The CPS Scheme has been now subsumed under Mission Vatsalya from 2021-22 onwards.
Detailed explanation-4: -In 2010, these were merged into a single plan known as the Integrated Child Protection Scheme. In 2017, it was renamed “Child Protection Services Scheme,” and again in 2021-22 as Mission Vatsalya.
