Detailed explanation-1: -With the aim to further strengthen the role of inland waterways, the ‘PM Gati Shakti Multimodal Waterways Summit 2022’ gets underway in Varanasi.

Detailed explanation-2: -The Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan is a central government project, aimed at revolutionising infrastructure in India. Prime minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the Gati Shakti Yojana, a ₹100 trillion project for developing ‘holistic infrastructure’ in India on the 75th independence day.

Detailed explanation-3: -Incorporation of various projects from different ministries: Gati Shakti will incorporate the infrastructure schemes of various Union ministries and state governments: Bharatmala, Sagarmala, UDAN, inland waterways, dry/land ports, etc.

Detailed explanation-4: -Several Ministries of the government have been brought on one platform under this Mission. These include Railways, Roads and Highways, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Telecommunication, Power, Shipping and Civil Aviation. The minister appreciated the work done related to the Inland Waterways under PM Gati Shakti Mission.

Detailed explanation-5: -Gati Shakti is a digital platform that will bring 16 ministries and departments of the Government of India together and that includes the Railways and the Roadways also. The idea is to have a coordinated execution of infrastructure connectivity projects across the country.
