Detailed explanation-1: -The Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) was launched in 2014-15 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, GOI. It is aimed at enhancing the reach of farm mechanization to marginal and small farmers and also to areas where power availability is low.

Under it, subsidy is provided for purchase of various types of agricultural equipment and machinery to the extent of 40-50% for States other than NER (North Eastern Region) States and for NER States it is 100% limited to Rs.

Detailed explanation-3: -Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) will be implemented in accordance with guidelines described hereunder. The scheme will be implemented in all the states, to promote the usage of farm mechanization and increase the ratio of farm power to cultivable unit area up to 2 kW/ha.
