Detailed explanation-1: -’Kavach ’, the indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, will be deployed across the entire rail network beginning with 2,000 km in the 2022-23 fiscal and will be rolled out in 4,000 to 5,000 km every subsequent year, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Friday.

Detailed explanation-2: -It manages the fourth largest national railway system in the world by size, with a total route length of 68,103 km (42,317 mi) as of 31 March 2022.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Indian Railways had asked for an outlay of Rs 2.5 lakh crore as capital expenditure for 2023-24. Overall, the railways was allocated around Rs 2.45 lakh crore of funds in 2022-23 through various financing sources, including funds raised through IRFC for capex deployment.

Detailed explanation-4: -Kavach ( lit. ‘Armour’) is an automatic train protection (ATP) system indigenously developed by Indian Railways through Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO). Initial development of Kavach started in 2012 under the name Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS).
