Detailed explanation-1: -In March 2022, the Cabinet had hiked the dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners by 3 per cent to 34 per cent from 31 per cent previously, effective January 1, 2022.

Detailed explanation-2: -2022 for enhancing Dearness Relief to Central Government pensioners/Family pensioners from 34% to 38% of basic pension/family pension. Revised rate is effective from 01.07. 2022.” DR is usually declared twice a year, in the months of September & March.

Detailed explanation-3: -Dearness Allowance (DA) in respect of employees of Central Government and Central Autonomous Bodies who are continuing to draw their pay in the pre-revised pay scale/Grade Pay as per 6th Central Pay Commission, shall be enhanced from the existing rate of 203% to 212% of Basic Pay w.e.f. 01.07. 2022.

Detailed explanation-4: -The last time DA was hiked was in March 2022. During this hike, DA was increased by 3% to 34% effective from January 1, 2022. The government has hiked the dearness allowance (DA) component for central government employees by 4% effective from July 1, 2022. The DA has been hiked to 38%.

Detailed explanation-5: -DA for central government employees and DR for central government pensioners have been increased from 34 per cent to 38 per cent of the basic pay. The revised rate will be applicable from July 1, 2022.
