Detailed explanation-1: -The government of Kerala is set to launch an Android App ‘Shaili’, aimed at diagnosing and controlling lifestyle diseases among the people in the state of Kerala. The app has been set up as part of the population-based screening project launched by the Health Department under the Nava Kerala Karma plan.

Detailed explanation-2: -Earlier, the Health department in Kerala had readied an Android application named ‘Shylee’ to enable Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) to collect information on the prevalence of lifestyle diseases and its risk factors among those above 30 years of age.

Detailed explanation-3: -Despite performing better in several health index parameters, Kerala has the dubious distinction of being home to a higher number of deaths caused by lifestyle diseases in the productive age population. Diabetes, hypertension, obesity, hyperlipidemia, heart attack and stroke are more prevalent in the state.

Detailed explanation-4: -“As many as 11.41 per cent (82,943) of them had hypertension, 8.9 per cent (64,564) had diabetes and 4.09 per cent (29,696) had both, she said. Besides, 8,982 persons had been found at the risk of tuberculosis, 8,614 with uterine cancer, 47,549 with breast cancer, and 3,006 with colon cancer.
