Detailed explanation-1: -Shri Narendra Kumar Goenka, took charge of Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) as its new Chairman. Padma Shri Dr A Sakthivel handed over the charge to him.

Detailed explanation-2: -Ministry said, Mr. Goenka has been associated with the Council for more than two decades.

Detailed explanation-3: -Apparel Export Promotion Council “Incorporated in1978, AEPC is the official body of apparel exporters in India that provides invaluable assistance to Indian exporters as well as importers/international buyers who choose India as their preferred sourcing destination for garments.

Detailed explanation-4: -It has Head Office in Gurgaon with Registered Office at Okhla and 10 offices pan India. AEPC today is a powerful body for the promotion and facilitation of garment manufacturing and their exports. For Indian exporters, AEPC is a one-stop shop for information advise technical guidance workforce and market intelligence.

Detailed explanation-5: -Presently, there are fourteen Export Promotion Councils under the administrative control of the Department of Commerce. Names and addresses of these Councils are given in Annexure 1.2. These Councils are registered as non-profit organizations under the Companies Act/ Societies Registration Act.
