Detailed explanation-1: -Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, Communication and Electronics & Information Technology inspected the trial of ‘Kavach ’ working system between Gullaguda-Chitgidda Railway stations on Lingampalli-Vikarabad section in Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway .

Detailed explanation-2: -Indian Railways Friday carried out a trial of indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection System - Kavach. In a tweet after the trials, railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that this is a landmark of ‘Aatmanibhar Bharat’ with the successful test of a head-on collision being averted.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Successful trial of ‘Kavach’ was conducted between Gullaguda – Chitgidda Railway stations in South Central Railway. Under the mission, Atmanirbhar Bharat – 2,000 km of the network will be brought under ‘Kavach’ for safety and capacity augmentation in 2022-23.

Detailed explanation-4: -Kavach ( lit. ‘Armour’) is an automatic train protection (ATP) system indigenously developed by Indian Railways through Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO). Initial development of Kavach started in 2012 under the name Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS).

Detailed explanation-5: -To put it simply, Kavach is meant to provide protection by avoiding a collision between two trains. The system activates the train braking system automatically if the driver fails to control the train as per the speed restrictions, claims Indian Railways.
