Detailed explanation-1: -Guthi Bill was a controversial bill tabled at the National Assembly of Nepal by the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation on 29 April 2019.

Detailed explanation-2: -The Guthi is a system that has been part of the Newar social system in the Kathmandu Valley since the 5th century BC. The Guthi system is a trust, whereby land is donated to this trust.

Detailed explanation-3: -As per Clause 143 of the Land Administration Directive, a saint appointed as priest of the public temple can sell the land earned by himself or herself during his lifetime. But the land, which is sold during his or her lifetime comes under the ownership of the guthi, and cannot be sold.

Detailed explanation-4: -According to Guthi Sasthan, there are over 2400 public and private Guthis, largely managed by Newar Peoples. Guthis undertake religious and social ceremonies on the basis of funds generated from an estimated 1.45 million hectares of land under the ownership of Guthi.
