Detailed explanation-1: -Meiteis, the largest community in Manipur, account for about 53% of the State’s total population of 2.85 million(2011 census). Also known as Meetei or Manipuri, the community is spread across the other northeastern States, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

Detailed explanation-2: -Manipur is inhabited by three major ethnic groups in Manipur, the Meitei s in the valley, the Nagas and the kuki-chin tribes in the hills. The Meitei pagans(Meitei-Muslims)from a minority community. Besides thes, other communities from the other states of India have also settled in the state.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Meiteis are more educated and also better represented in business and politics of the state than Kukis and Nagas. Most of Kukis and Nagas are Christians. Kukis are spread all over the northeast and Myanmar. In Manipur, most of them migrated from Myanmar, beginning centuries ago.
