Detailed explanation-1: -Notes: The United Kingdom recently announced several measures to tackle obesity and improve public health in the country. As a part of the plan, the Government is to ban “buy one get one free” promotions for the food products that are high in fat, sugar or salt.

Detailed explanation-2: -From April 2022, retailers that sell food and drink will no longer be able to place HFSS products at store entrances, aisle ends, checkouts or online equivalents (entry pages, landing pages and shopping basket or payment pages).

Detailed explanation-3: -( HFSS is otherwise known as ‘less healthy food and drink’ and is referred to as such in the nutrient profiling technical guidance 2011.) The restriction of HFSS products by location will come into force on 1 October 2022. The restriction of HFSS products by volume price will come into force on 1 October 2023.

Detailed explanation-4: -It was announced that the 9pm watershed ban on TV and online advertising for foods high in fat, salt and sugar (HFSS) would be delayed to 1 October 2025 from the originally planned 2023/24 go live date.

It was originally slated to come into force from January 2023, but was delayed by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson in May. It has now been pushed back further by current PM Rishi Sunak.
