Detailed explanation-1: -This Act has further been amended by the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act, 2021 which have come into force from 1 September 2022.
Detailed explanation-2: -The Act seeks to hold the child accused of crime accountable, not through punishments, but through counselling. The Act amended in 2015 changed the nomenclature of ‘juvenile’ to ‘child’ and ‘child in conflict with the law’. The Act defines orphaned, surrendered and abandoned children.
Detailed explanation-3: -Section 20. Child attained age of twenty-one years and yet to complete prescribed term of stay in place of safety. Section 21. Order that may not be passed against a child in conflict with law.
