Detailed explanation-1: -Coir or coconut fibre, is a natural fibre extracted from the husk of coconut and used in products such as floor mats, doormats, brushes and mattresses. Coir is the fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut. This part is called mesocarp.
Detailed explanation-2: -The fruit of the coconut is drupe. It has three layers-Outer exocarp, middle mesocarps are called the husk of the coconut. The innermost layer is called the endocarp.
Detailed explanation-3: -Coconut mesocarp is composed of pith (70%) and fiber (30%), and the pith contains a substantial amount of extractives in the green stage of development (6 and 7 months) (van Dam et al., 2004). The CMP used in this study showed a high level of extractives in water (49 ± 2.1%, w/w).
