Detailed explanation-1: -In the 17th century, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire, pioneered Shiva sutra or Ganimi Kava (Guerrilla Tactics) to defeat the many times larger and more powerful armies of the Mughal Empire.

Detailed explanation-2: -Shivaji followed same technique of plunderers who would appear out of nowhere, loot and escape. Hence Dennis Kincaid called him ‘The Grand Rebel’.
