Detailed explanation-1: -On 30th June 1855, two years before the Great Revolt of 1857, two Santhal brothers Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu organised 10, 000 Santhals and proclaimed a rebellion against the British. The tribals took an oath to drive away from the British from their homeland.

Detailed explanation-2: -The main center of the rebellion was Birbhum and Murshidabad districts of Bengal and Bhagalpur in Bihar. Despite the intensity of the rebellion, the rebels ultimately failed to outclass the superior military power of British rule. After a few months the Santhal rebellion was ruthlessly suppressed.
