Detailed explanation-1: -Bargir was the Royal cavalry of the Maratha army system. There were two kinds of cavalry viz. Bargirs and the Shiledars. Bargirs were provided horses from the state and thus, the horses were the property of the royal household and were looked after by the state.

Detailed explanation-2: -Bargir: One of the lowest rank (rank and file) cavalryman of the Marathas who was provided with horse and equipment from the State’s stock.

Detailed explanation-3: -Bargis were a light cavalry mercenary group of Maratha Empire’s who indulged in large scale plundering of the countryside of western part of Bengal for about ten years (1741–1751) during the Maratha invasions of Bengal. Maratha invasions took place almost as an annual event for 10 years.
