THE PSYCHOLOGY OF EMOTIONS

SOCIAL THEORY

Question [CLICK ON ANY CHOICE TO KNOW THE RIGHT ANSWER]
Select a strength of Bandura’s Bobo doll study:
A
Exposure to aggression could mentally harm the children.
B
The situation was low in ecological validity-no interaction between the child and the model-unlike in real life.
C
The method ensures replication.
D
The behaviour was measured immediately. No follow up to check whether the effects were long term
Explanation:

Detailed explanation-1: -Bandura’s procedure is very reliable because it can be replicated – as Bandura did, replicating the study in ‘63 and ‘65. This was easy to do because of the standardised procedure (same script, same checklist categories, etc). Bandura also used two observers behind the one-way mirror.

Detailed explanation-2: -The experiment involved exposing one group of 24 children to an adult modeling aggressive behavior, and another group of 24 children to an adult modeling non-aggressive behavior. The final group of 24 children acted as the control group that was not exposed to adult models.
