Detailed explanation-1: -Indian Mutiny, also called Sepoy Mutiny or First War of Independence, widespread but unsuccessful rebellion against British rule in India in 1857–59. Begun in Meerut by Indian troops (sepoys) in the service of the British East India Company, it spread to Delhi, Agra, Kanpur, and Lucknow.

Detailed explanation-2: -By the end, over 50, 000 sepoys had died or were executed later, whether or not they were guilty of participating in the revolt. Another 100, 000 civilians were killed by British efforts to put down the rebellion and take revenge. The chaos that followed also contributed to a major famine that killed even more people.
