Detailed explanation-1: -Kenyan writer Idza Luhumyo has been awarded the 2022 AKO Caine Prize for African Writing for her short story ‘Five Years Next Sunday’, published in Disruption (2021). This is the fifth time a Kenyan writer has won since the Prize’s inception in 2000.

Detailed explanation-2: -We are pleased to announce that Submissions for the 2023 AKO Caine Prize is now open and will close on Thursday 26th January. The AKO Caine Prize Award for African Writing is an annual literary award for a published short story by an African writer.

Detailed explanation-3: -It is named after the late Sir Michael Caine, former Chairman of Booker plc, who was Chairman of the ‘Africa 95’ arts festival in Europe and Africa in 1995 and for nearly 25 years Chairman of the Booker Prize management committee.
