Detailed explanation-1: -Researchers have discovered seven new wasp species belonging to the genus Clistopyga from Peru, Venezuela and Colombia. The Amazon rainforests continue to throw up surprises, and this time it’s a slightly scary one.

Detailed explanation-2: -The new species goes by the scientific name Stethantyx covida. It belongs to the large Darwin wasp family Ichneumonidae, which is comprised of more than 25, 000 species worldwide. Covida is small, measuring 3.5 mm in length.

Detailed explanation-3: -Researchers have discovered 15 new wasp species in lowland Amazon rainforests and Andean cloud forests that parasitize spiders in a “complex way.” Female Acrotaphus wasps are known to attack spiders in their webs, temporarily paralyzing the arachnids with a venomous sting so they can lay a single egg on a spider.
