Detailed explanation-2: -On December 12 last year, the Jharkhand assembly passed the “Prevention of Mob Violence and Mob Lynching Bill, 2021” during the winter session.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday passed Prevention of Mob Violence and Mob Lynching Bill, 2021, which aims at providing “effective protection” of constitutional rights and the prevention of mob violence in the state. After including one amendment, the Bill was passed and sent to the Governor for his assent.

Detailed explanation-4: -Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code This section of IPC prescribes punishment for any person found guilty of attempt to murder. Such a person shall be sentenced to imprisonment which may extend upto 10 years and shall also be liable for fine.

Detailed explanation-5: -There is “no separate” definition for such incidents under the existing IPC. Lynching incidents can be dealt with under Section 300 and 302 of IPC. Section 302 provides that whoever commits murder shall be punished with death or imprisonment for life and shall also be liable to fine.
