Detailed explanation-1: -India and South Africa (SA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to translocate more than 100 cheetahs to India over the next decade, confirmed the SA government January 26, 2023, in a press release.

Detailed explanation-2: -In terms of the agreement, an initial batch of 12 cheetahs are to be flown from South Africa to India during February 2023. The cats will join eight cheetah introduced to India from Namibia during 2022.

Detailed explanation-3: -The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today released wild Cheetahs - which had become extinct from India - in Kuno National Park. Cheetahs - brought from Namibia - are being introduced in India under Project Cheetah, which is world’s first inter-continental large wild carnivore translocation project.
