Detailed explanation-1: -With the aim to further strengthen the role of inland waterways, the ‘PM Gati Shakti Multimodal Waterways Summit 2022’ gets underway in Varanasi.

Detailed explanation-2: -The Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan is a central government project, aimed to revolutionise infrastructure in India. Prime minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the Gati Shakti Yojana, a Rs 100 lakh-crore project for developing ‘holistic infrastructure’ in India on the 75th independence day.

Detailed explanation-3: -The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) was launched in October 2021 with a vision to enable a mechanism for coordinated planning and to provide a bird’s eye view of planned development to all the Ministries for holistic and integrated development.

Detailed explanation-4: -Incorporation of various projects from different ministries: Gati Shakti will incorporate the infrastructure schemes of various Union ministries and state governments: Bharatmala, Sagarmala, UDAN, inland waterways, dry/land ports, etc.

Detailed explanation-5: -Several Ministries of the government have been brought on one platform under this Mission. These include Railways, Roads and Highways, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Telecommunication, Power, Shipping and Civil Aviation.
