Question [CLICK ON ANY CHOICE TO KNOW THE RIGHT ANSWER]
Why did Icarus fly higher and higher into the sky?
A
He wanted to impress the shepherds and plowmen.
B
He did not know how to control his wings.
C
He was bewitched by a sense of freedom.
D
He was obeying his father’s instructions.
Explanation:

Detailed explanation-1: -As they were approaching the island of Samos, Icarus turned arrogant. He felt an unconquerable urge to fly towards heaven, as close to the sun as he could. Ignoring his father’s warnings, he flew higher and higher, until the wax that held the wings together melted and he began falling at speed.

Detailed explanation-2: -When father and son were ready to depart, Daedalus told Icarus to fly at a moderate height. The danger of flying too low was that the water below could dampen and clog the wings. As for flying too high, the heat of the sun would melt the wax that held the feathers secure.

Detailed explanation-3: -Icarus ignored Daedalus’ instructions not to fly too close to the sun, causing the beeswax in his wings to melt. Icarus fell from the sky, plunged into the sea, and drowned. The myth gave rise to the idiom, “fly too close to the sun."

Detailed explanation-4: -Icarus has become a symbol for heroic daring (the crew of space shuttles that did not survive) but his flying and falling have been given a psychological timbre as well as a physical expression in all kinds of literature from poems to thrillers.
