Explanation:

Detailed explanation-1: -During the period 395–476, the army of the Roman Empire’s western half progressively disintegrated, while its counterpart in the East, known as the East Roman army (or the early Byzantine army) remained largely intact in size and structure until the reign of Justinian I (r. AD 527–565).

Detailed explanation-2: -The training that soldiers had to do was very tough and thorough and included marching 20 miles a day wearing full armour. This meant that the Roman armies were very fit and organised. Training included marching in formation and learning specific tactics and manoeuvres for battle.

Detailed explanation-3: –Rome no longer had any generals to lead the Roman legions.-Roman armies suffered from poor equipment and weapons.-Roman soldiers were more loyal to the emperor than their generals.

Detailed explanation-4: -Rome was under constant attack from Barbarian invasions. Germanic tribes including the Goths, Visigoths, and the Huns moved in from Europe to attack the weak Roman Empire. This constant warfare required heavy military spending which took money away from where it was needed.
