Detailed explanation-1: -Some 4, 000 to 5, 000 years ago, the emergence of farming marked a major turning point in African history. Mastering this new skill enabled Bantu speakers, previously hunter-gatherers living in the region between Cameroon and Nigeria, to gradually leave their homeland and spread to new areas.
Detailed explanation-2: -With more rain, unwanted vegetation can quickly overrun food crops. In order to grow, food crops farmers made small clearings by cutting down trees and burning the stumps and undergrowth. In these clearings they grew edible roots, such as yams and cassava.
