Detailed explanation-1: -Old Alluvial soil is called Bhangar. In the Upper and Middle Ganga plain, two different types of alluvial soils have developed, viz. Bhangar and Khadar . Bhangar. Bhangar represents a system of older alluvium, deposited away from the flood plains.
Detailed explanation-2: -Bangar is a less fertile soil and it is an old alluvial soil. Bangar areas are less prone to flooding but are usually more sandy and less fertile as well. They consist of a higher concentration of kankar nodules. They are slightly elevated terraces.
Detailed explanation-3: -Bhangar soils are less fertile as they are above flood level whereas Khadar soils are more fertile as they are below the flood level. Bhanger is full of kankers (lime nodules) while khadar soil is composed of fine silt and clay. It is fertile land as it contains alluvial soil deposited by rivers.
Detailed explanation-4: -Bhangar: It covers large parts of northern plains. It is composed of old alluvial soil. It contains calcareous deposits locally known as ‘Kankar’. Soil is not very fertile. Khadar: Ii is also present in northern plains like that of Bhangar.
Detailed explanation-5: -On the basis of age, Alluvial soils can be classified as old alluvial or Bangar, and new alluvial or Khadar. In terms of fertility, Khadar is more fertile as compared to bangar.
