Detailed explanation-1: -The date line, also called the International Date Line, is a boundary from which each calendar day starts. Areas to the west of the date line are one calendar day ahead of areas to the east. The date line runs from the North Pole to the South Pole through the Pacific Ocean. It is not a straight line, however.
Detailed explanation-2: -The logic behind this is that on a discrete sphere, the day and date have to be separated at two locations-you can’t split a sphere into two parts with a single “cut” on one side.
Detailed explanation-3: -The date line makes a big detour between Asia and North America in the Bering Strait. Cape Dezhnev, Russia, is always a day ahead of Cape Prince of Wales, Alaska, even though the landmasses are less than 80 kilometers (50 miles) apart.
Detailed explanation-4: -180° longitude has a special name called the international dateline. The International Date Line functions as a line of demarcation separating two consecutive calendar dates. At this longitude 180° West and East longitude meet. This line passes through the mid pacific region.
