Detailed explanation-1: -Rigor Mortis or postmortem rigidity is the stiffness of the muscles and joints of the body post-death of a person, usually lasting between one and four days. It is the third stage and a noticeable sign of death, which is due to chemical changes in the muscles which brings about a stiffening of the muscles of limbs.

Detailed explanation-2: -Facial muscles and other small muscles are affected before larger muscles. Maximum stiffness is reached around 12-24 hours post mortem. Facial muscles are affected first, with the rigor then spreading to other parts of the body.

Detailed explanation-3: -Rigor mortis appears approximately 2 hours after death in the muscles of the face, progresses to the limbs over the next few hours, completing between 6 to 8 hours after death. [10] Rigor mortis then stays for another 12 hours (till 24 hours after death) and then disappears.
