Detailed explanation-1: -The renal sinus is a cavity within the kidney which is occupied by the renal pelvis, renal calyces, blood vessels, nerves and fat. The renal hilum extends into a large cavity within the kidney occupied by the renal vessels, minor renal calyces, major renal calyces, renal pelvis and some adipose tissue.

Detailed explanation-2: -Each kidney has a single renal artery that originates from the aorta. As it enters the renal sinus, the renal artery divides into several interlobar arteries (Figure 2). These enter the kidney tissue at the cortico-medullary border and become the arcuate arteries.

Detailed explanation-3: -The cortex of the kidney receives the majority of renal blood flow. The renal artery enters at the hilum of the kidneys and branches into the interlobar artery. The interlobar artery then travels between the pyramids and continues as arcuate artery, which arches along the corticomedullary junction.
