Detailed explanation-1: -On one of these occasions, the Archangel Gabriel (Jibra’il in Arabic) appeared to him and instructed him to recite “in the name of [your] lord.” This was the first of many revelations that became the basis of the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam.

Detailed explanation-2: -Muhammad was meditating in a cave on Mount Hira when he saw the Angel Jibril . The angel commanded him to recite the words before him. Muhammad had never been taught to read or write but he was able to recite the words. In this way, Allah’s message continued to be revealed to Muhammad over the next 23 years.
