Detailed explanation-1: -A Counterfeit Note detected in the cash received by the bank branch/Treasury, across the counter shall be impounded in the presence of the tenderer, in the manner detailed in para 2 above. It shall be forwarded to local police authorities for investigation by filing the FIR (Annex II).

Detailed explanation-2: -The bank will also have to stamp “counterfeit note” on the currency and once impounded, it has to be recorded in their registers. Such counterfeits notes, after being impounded, are then sent to the police. If the tenderer has more than five fake notes, the bank has to file a FIR for an investigation.

Detailed explanation-3: -11.1 Counterfeit Notes received back from the police authorities / courts shall be carefully preserved in the safe custody of the bank and a record thereof be maintained by the branch concerned.
