Detailed explanation-1: -1. A citizen who desires to seek some information from a public authority is required to send, along with the application, a demand draft or a bankers cheque or an Indian Postal Order of Rs. 10/-(Rupees ten), payable to the Accounts Officer of the public authority as fee prescribed for seeking information.
Detailed explanation-2: -Fee for Seeking Information In case of Government of India, the prescribed application fee is Rs. 10/-which can be paid through a demand draft or a banker’s cheque or an Indian Postal Order payable to the Accounts Officer of the public authority.
Detailed explanation-3: -A request for obtaining information under sub-section (1) of section 6 shall be accompanied by an application fee of rupees ten by way of cash against proper receipt or by demand draft or bankers draft or bankers cheque payable to the Accounts Officer of the public authority.
Detailed explanation-4: -Notably, under section 7(6) of the Central Act, even where a fee is payable, if the Public Authority fails to provide the information within the time limits specified then no fee can be charged.
