Detailed explanation-1: -Definition-In this Act “Officer of Parliament” means any of the following officers, namely, the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Council of States and the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the House of the People. the Council of States a salary of four lakh rupees per mensem.

Detailed explanation-2: -Minister not to draw salary or allowances as Members of Parliament – No person in receipt of a salary or allowance under this Act shall be entitled to receive any sum out of funds provided by Parliament by way of salary or allowances in respect of his membership of either House of Parliament.

Detailed explanation-3: -Average annual salary in Parliament is INR 6.4 lakhs . Salary estimates are based on 14 Parliament latest salaries received from various employees of Parliament.

Detailed explanation-4: -Salary, allowances and entitlements The act is in pursuance to the constitutional provisions where article 106 of the Constitution of India provides that the members of either House of Parliament shall be entitled to receive such salaries and allowances as may from time to time be determined by Parliament by law.
