Detailed explanation-1: -The central theme of Shankara’s writings is the identity of the Self (Ātman) and Brahman, One of Shankara’s main concerns was explaining the liberating knowledge of the Self, and defending the Upanishads as an independent means of knowledge against the ritually-oriented Mīmāṃsā school of Hinduism.
