Detailed explanation-1: -Kirkpatrick Macmillan, widely credited as the inventor of the modern pedal-driven bicycle, was born in the Dumfriesshire village of Kier on 2 September 1812. The son of a blacksmith, he followed his father into the business and by his 20s had become fascinated with a new means of transport.
