Detailed explanation-1: -The Applicants’ seeking information under Section 6(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2005, could make their request in writing in a language of English, Hindi or in the regional official language of the area, and could submit their “Applications’ to the Public Information Officer (PIO) appointed at an office.

Detailed explanation-2: -Section 6(1) of the Central Act requires the PIO to accept the application orally and then help the requester to put their request into writing. The final application which is produced should include the date and the PIOs name and position, and a copy should be given to the person making the request.

Detailed explanation-3: -The PIO has no right to ask you, the reason for your seeking information: An applicant making request for information is not required to give any reason for requesting the information or any other personal details except those that may be necessary for contacting him.

Detailed explanation-4: -Every public authority shall for the purposes of this Act, appoint one or more officers as Public Information Officers. Every Public Information Officer shall deal with requests for information and shall render reasonable assistance to any person seeking such information.
