Detailed explanation-1: -The RTI Bill was passed by Parliament of India on 15 June 2005 and came into force with effect from 12 October 2005. Every day on an average, over 4800 RTI applications are filed.
Detailed explanation-2: -The Right to Information Act will come into force w.e.f. 12th October, 2005. The Act extends to the whole of India except Jammu & Kashmir. It provides a very definite day for its commencement i.e. 120 days from enactment. It shall apply to Public Authorities.
