Explanation: 

Detailed explanation-1: -The RTI Bill was passed by Parliament of India on 15 June 2005 and came into force with effect from 12 October 2005. Every day on an average, over 4800 RTI applications are filed. In the first ten years of the commencement of the act, over 17, 500, 000 applications had been filed.

Detailed explanation-2: -The Right to Information Act will come into force w.e.f. 12th October, 2005. The Act extends to the whole of India except Jammu & Kashmir. It provides a very definite day for its commencement i.e. 120 days from enactment. It shall apply to Public Authorities.

Detailed explanation-3: –For the purposes of removal of doubts, it is hereby declared that where the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly has not been recognised as such, the Leader of the single largest group in opposition of the Government in the Legislative Assembly shall be deemed to be the Leader of the Opposition.

Detailed explanation-4: -The Central Act was passed by the Indian Parliament on 12 May 2005 and received Presidential assent on 15 June 2005. It came into force on 12 October 2005.
