Detailed explanation-1: -Under the provisions of RTI Act, any citizen of India may request information from a “public authority” (a body of Government or “instrumentality of State") which is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days.
Detailed explanation-2: -Entities clearly treated as “public authorities” (a) Constitutional authorities such as the Union and state executives, Union and state Council of Ministers, the President and Governors, Parliament and state legislatures, Election Commission, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, etc.
