Your sciatic nerve is a long, important nerve that starts just outside of your spine and then travels through your pelvis, into your butt and then to the back of each thigh in each leg. It’s a mixed nerve, which means it has both motor (movement) and sensory (sensation) fibers.

Detailed explanation-2: -The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve of the sacral plexus, and it innervates almost the entire leg below the knee. The sciatic nerve passes from the pelvis through the sacrosciatic foramen between the ischial tuberosity and greater trochanter of the femur.
