“Similarly, there is a large empirical literature on the effect of democracy on economic growth. In one of the early empirical contributions to this literature, Barro (1996) finds that the overall effects of democracy on growth are weakly negative using repeated cross-sections for 84 countries, with growth rates of GDP per capita averaged over 1965-75, 1975-85 and 1985-90. A similar finding is obtained by Tavares and Wacziarg (2001), also with cross-sectional data. On the other hand, Rodrik and Wacziarg (2005), Persson and Tabellini (2007) and Papaioannou and Siourounis (2008) find a positive effect using panel data. More recently, Acemoglu et al. (2014) find a sizeable and robust effect of democracy on economic growth using annual panel data and Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) methods for 175 countries for 1960-2010."What part of the structure is the passage above?

Abstract
Explanation:

Detailed explanation-1: -Economic development depends on several factors: country’s population size, global situation, cooperation from other countries, economic priorities adopted by the country, etc. However, the difference in the rates of economic development between less developed countries with dictatorships and democracies is negligible.

Detailed explanation-2: -Democracy is considered as the best form of government because of the following reasons: In democracy, people have the right to choose their rulers. If rulers do not work well, people will not elect him in the next election. Democracy has more freedom of speech than any other forms of government.

Detailed explanation-3: -Democracy cant reduce inequality of incomes between different citizens. Government in poor countries should spend less on poverty reduction, health, education and spend more on industries and infrastructure. In democracy, all citizens have one vote, which means that there is absence of any domination and conflict.
