Concept note-1: -We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
Concept note-2: -Lincoln’s Primary purpose for delivering the Gettysburg Address was to dedicate a cemetery. According to Lincoln, men gave their lives at Gettysburg so that the nation might live.
Concept note-3: -Lincoln was declaring that the United States would continue to fight to preserve the nation that was created by the Founding Fathers who wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
