Concept note-1: -A score refers to a span of 20 years. ‘Fourscore and seven years ago’ has often tripped up people in modern times.

Concept note-2: -A score is twenty or approximately twenty.

Concept note-3: -A ‘score’ is a group of 20 (often used in combination with a cardinal number, i.e. fourscore to mean 80), but also often used as an indefinite number (e.g. the newspaper headline “Scores of Typhoon Survivors Flown to Manila").

Concept note-4: -A score of years is a period of 20 years. Five score years would be 5 times 20 years or 100 years. Since one score is equal to 20 years, five score years is equal to one hundred years.

Concept note-5: -four·score ˈfȯr-ˈskȯr. : being four times twenty : eighty.
