Concept note-1: -Onomatopoeia is a literary device in which a word is used to represent a sound. For example, the words ‘pop’, ‘crack’ and ‘splat’ are all onomatopoeic. The word onomatopoeia comes from the combination of two Greek words, one meaning ‘name’ and the other meaning ‘I’ make.

Concept note-3: -Onomatopoeia definition: a word that sounds like the noise it describes. Some onomatopoeia examples include the words boing, gargle, clap, zap, and pitter-patter.

Concept note-4: -When children spell words the way they sound, they are said to be phonetically spelling-for example, the word lion could be phonetically spelled L-Y-N, or the word move could be phonetically spelled M-U-V.
