EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -On November 19, 1863 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Abraham Lincoln gives his most famous speech as president. This address takes place at union cemetery after the Battle of Gettysburg and is meant to help mourn the loss of the soldiers that died, but it did way more than that.

Concept note-2: -The main purpose of the Gettysburg Address at the time it was given was to commemorate a new National Cemetery at Gettysburg. It also gave Lincoln’s purpose for pushing on to win the Civil War-the abolition of slavery and the reunification of the Union.

Concept note-3: -Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live.
