Concept note-1: -Martin Luther King uses pathos in his speech by sharing the experiences of African Americans who have faced discrimination and segregation. He talks about how African Americans have been “seared in the flames of withering injustice” and how they are still not free even 100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Concept note-2: -King uses a technique known as “anaphora, ” the repetition of a phrase at the beginning of sentences, as a rhetorical tool throughout the speech. An example of anaphora is when King urges his audience to seize the moment: “Now is the time…” is repeated four times in the sixth paragraph of the I Have a Dream transcript.
Concept note-3: -He supports his claim by giving evidence of segregation and police brutality which the Negros unjustly face.
Concept note-4: -“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. ‘” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
