Concept note-1: -Nathan Bedford Forrest (July 13, 1821 October 29, 1877), was a Confederate general and perhaps the American Civil War’s most highly regarded cavalry and partisan ranger (guerilla leader). He was one of the war’s most innovative and successful generals; his tactics of mobile warfare are still studied by modern soldiers.
Concept note-2: -Contents. James Ewell Brown “Jeb” Stuart (1833-1864) was a U.S. Army officer and later a major general and cavalry commander for the Confederate States of America during the Civil War (1861-65).
Concept note-3: -As soon as the Civil War broke out in April 1861, guerrilla warfare emerged as a popular alternative to enlistment in the Confederate army.
Concept note-4: -After the war, Forrest is best known as having been a prominent figure in the foundation of the Ku Klux Klan, a group composed of mostly Confederate veterans committed to violent intimidation of blacks, northerners and republicans. He was “Grand Wizard” until he ordered the dissolution of the organization in 1869.
