Concept note-1: -Segregation is the action of separating people, historically on the basis of race and/or gender. Segregation implies the physical separation of people in everyday activities, in professional life, and in the exercise of civil rights.

Concept note-2: -: the act or process of segregating : the state of being segregated. : the separation or isolation of a race, class, or ethnic group by enforced or voluntary residence in a restricted area, by barriers to social intercourse, by separate educational facilities, or by other discriminatory means.

Concept note-3: -Segregation is the separation of an individual or group of individuals from a larger group. It sometimes happens to apply special treatment to the separated individual or group. Segregation can also involve the separation of items from a larger group.

Concept note-4: -Segregation is the practice of requiring separate housing, education and other services for people of color. Segregation was made law several times in 18th-and 19th-century America as some believed that Black and white people were incapable of coexisting.

Concept note-5: -Originally, the difference was that separate meant to take two or more classes of things or people and put them in different places. But segregate meant to take one of these classes and isolate it from all the others.
