Concept note-1: -On April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, was assassinated by well-known stage actor John Wilkes Booth, while attending the play Our American Cousin at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C.
Concept note-2: -Abraham Lincoln was attending a performance of the comedy, Our American Cousin, at Ford’s Theatre, when he was shot by John Wilkes Booth in the back of the head with a . 44 caliber derringer.
Concept note-3: -Before John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre on April 14, 1865, he had been plotting some kind of drastic action for months.
Concept note-4: -Ford’s Athenaeum (later named Ford’s Theatre) opened in 1862 and is now both a theatre and a memorial to Abraham Lincoln. In 1866, the year after Lincoln was shot while attending a performance at the theatre, Congress acquired and converted the theatre building for office use.
